Chapter 3: The Arrival Party

I love the idea of celebrating the day that Jin Ho and Susan arrived in the U.S. but once again, I think Bitsy has gone too far with the Arrival Party. I think it is interesting that Bitsy insists on bringing the two families together even when it seems forced and awkward. I’m not sure who she is doing it for, herself or for the kids.

Bitsy wants to feel connected to Ziba, even though she completely disagrees about how the Yazdans are raising Susan. Is it the need to bond with another adoptive family or is something else going on?

I find Bitsy such a interesting character, she forcefully expresses her opinions, but at the same time she don’t seem to feel at home in her own skin when she is around the Yazdans.
